Africa: Languages and Softwares
List of about 2 dozen links to African language related software projects and Web pages from the African Studies Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Languages include Afrikaans, Arabic, Egyptian Hieroglyphs, Hieratic, Bantu, Hausa, Ethiopic, Swahili, Sesotho, Luganda, and Kiswahili.

African Languages Lexicon Project
From the University of Pennsylvania. Lexicon (word list) of around 400 English terms translated into more than a dozen African languages (like Swahili, Zulu, Amharic, Wolof, and others). Also has a side-by-side comparison of common expressions (like "good morning") in the different languages with audio so you can see and hear the differences between some of the languages spoken in Africa. (If the site asks you to log in, just click "Cancel" and you should still be able to see the information.) Not much description of what any of the information is, however.

Bisharat - A language, technology, and development initiative
Organization focusing on developing and promoting African languages and communities online and in software. Site currently contains links to African-language-related sites, African language policy documents, information about African language fonts and keyboard settings, and an English-Zarma-French dictionary (spoken in Nigeria, Mali, and elsewhere).

Jamtan Fulani
Web site about the Fulani people of Senegal and north-west Africa (Mauritania, The Gambia, etc.). Brief articles on the Fulani history, culture, art, etc. Click on "Education" to learn about the Pulaar (aka Fulfulde, Fula) language, including the alphabet, some vocabulary, and some grammar guides, all with audio.
