This page is devoted to bringing together information about the languages of
the world. The language resources listed here come from all around the world,
and range from dictionaries to language tutorials to spoken samples of
languages. Many languages are represented here, but many more are missing.

Change is coming to the Human-Languages Page...
Because of the sheer size of the H-L Page, it is cumbersome both to use (by
you) and to maintain (by me). In an effort to aid both sides, and to bring a
fresh look to the H-L Page (which hasn't really changed since its debut in
1994), I am in the process of databasing all the entries to produce a simple
and quick search option for these resources. The current style of this page
will still be available, but you will also be able to request just resources
that match a given criteria (such as all Spanish resources), which is
probably what most people need anyway. The English list will be done first,
followed by the translated pages. This will be a slow process, but should
be a great benefit to everyone once it's done. The English database should
be available by the end of August; other languages will follow when

Old translating dictionaries wanted!
If you have an old, out-of-copyright or copyright-free translating
dictionary (English/French, English/Italian, etc), then a project exists
that wants it. The objective is to collect copyright-free texts and produce
free online translating dictionaries for the Net and elsewhere. If you can
help, you can contact me, or you can get more
information about the project. This is something I personally would
very much like to see happen, so please at least check it out.
Mirrors
At the moment, this page is geared towards English-speakers only (because
these introductions, and the explanations of the links below, are all in
English). Volunteers are needed to translate this page into other languages.
